These designs are based on the nine choirs of angels as proposed by Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, and on the visions of Saint Hildegard of Bingen.
The design of the Dominations reflects first and foremost their authority and their leadership style that lifts up their subordinates. The motif of the column of light serves as the basis for the design. The figure moves upwards. Finally, the design has a presence emanating from its central column. The areas of shadow that delimit the upper half of the central column on either side suggest the shape of a head without detracting from the figure’s supernatural essence.
