Fallen Power

These designs are based on the nine choirs of angels as proposed by Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, and on the visions of Saint Hildegard of Bingen.
The fallen Powers take the dynamism of their angelic counterpart and combine it with suffocating darkness. In a mockery of the spiraling column of fire that forms the body of the Powers, the body of the fallen Powers writhes in a serpent-like manner, one of the most well-known symbols of the devil.
This body is made up of smoke, a nod to the luminosity and fieriness that the fallen Powers had before their rebellion. This smoke expands; unlike the lower anti-choirs, the fallen Powers are not only dark figures, but actively expand this darkness.
Finally, while the Powers stand upright without a hint of concealment or deception, the smoke covers the central form of the fallen Powers. Instead of victorious, the fallen Powers feel the need to turn away, hide and watch their enemy over their shoulder.
